The Camp Barney Medintz Story

Camp Barney Medintz is the overnight camp of the Marcus JCC of Atlanta, located in the north Georgia Blue Ridge mountains on 540 spectacular acres surrounding 2 large private lakes. Since 1963, “Camp Barney” has served nearly 1400 boys & girls each summer from throughout the southeast and approximately 26 states from all across the US. Nearly 90% return-rate each summer.

Every imaginable activity is offered! Water skiing, swimming, boating, ropes courses, zip lines, all court & field sports, tennis, mountain biking, karate, horseback riding, theatre, dance, music, movie studio, radio station, Israeli cultural programs, chef’s school, yoga, scuba, film festivals, sports tournaments, backpacking trips, whitewater rafting, caving and much more.

Extraordinary facility including 950 seat lakeside amphitheater, 2 lakes, 2 swimming pools, 3 water slides, cultural & performing arts center, gymnasium & sports complex, high adventure climbing walls & ropes courses, equestrian center, 18,000′ dining hall, modern health center, organic gardens, “mogan david” chapel/synagogue.

We are proud of our “best feature”: the careful selection of mature, experienced, talented, enthusiastic, warm & committed staff who care for, teach & mentor children & teens each summer.

Exceptional attention to the details: tasty & nutritious meals (kosher), keen focus on health & safety, experiential environmental education, meaningful & exciting celebration of Jewish life & our connection to our global Jewish community, exhilarating “guest” staff program (artists-musicians-chefs-athletes), emphasis on the growth & esteem of every child.
