The JCamps Columbus Story

JCC Summer Camps provide a commitment to the highest quality camping experiences within unique Jewish environments. Campers are encouraged to learn new skills and master old ones, to make decisions, take responsibility, be independent, respect others, form lasting friendships built on memories and most of all…have fun. Campers develop a deeper understanding of and appreciation for Jewish heritage and traditions while also developing a true sense of community. JCC Summer Camps provide a safe nurturing environment where campers gain self esteem, confidence, learn new skills and tackle new challenges. We encourage campers to try new activities and gain a love for the outdoors with meaningful Jewish experiences. A summer at the JCC is spent immersed in daily camp life highlighted by dynamic and innovative programming. Activities include swimming, sports of all kinds, music, nature, Israeli culture, and Judaics. Every Wednesday has a special theme with exciting activities related to the weekly theme. Campers will experience Maccabi Games, an Olympic-style sports program that encourages team work, team building, sportsmanship, where they can interact in an atmosphere of fun and physical fitness. JCamps offer many options and flexibility. Camp sessions are 2 weeks, and campers can sign up for 1 to 4 sessions with three or five day options. JCC Summer Camps impact more than 700 campers and staff every summer. JCC Summer Camps includes several programs: Camp Yeladim for two and three-year-olds; Camp Ora is a half-day program for children three to four years old; Camp Kef for children entering Kindergarten; Camp Chaverim for children entering 1st through 3rd grade; Camp Hoover for children entering 4th grade to 7th grade; Arye Inclusion – special needs camp for children entering 1st grade to entering 7th grade.”

Why We Host Schlichim

"Hosting Shlichim during the summers remains a wonderful experience for our family. Each year we meet dynamic and fascinating young Israelis with whom we maintain contact long after the summer has gone. Our kids are the greatest beneficiaries of the experience, finding in the Shlichim individuals who they come to regard as older siblings. It is an event we look forward to every year with good reason and plan on continuing for years to come."

- Soberman Family, The Jack and Pat Kay Centre Camp, Prosserman JCC

Connecting with Israel

“Although it was so new, Israel brought upon me a familiar sense of belonging much like what I feel at Camp Chi every summer. The ability to be in a place where one feels so free and proud to be a Jew is a feeling that makes me so proud to be involved in my Jewish heritage.” - Joshua Krawitz, 17, Camp Chi, JCC Chicago
