The Weinstein JCC Teen Camps Story

Our teen camps are for youth in grades 7-12 and are geared towards helping campers develop leadership abilities through service, adventure, learning and fun. Camp Hilbert Camper: Grades: 10 - 12 Peer Campers will participate in the full camp Hilbert experience while working directly with a child with special needs. As a Peer Camper, you will have the opportunity to learn valuable skills and the ability to work alongside our dynamic staff. Teen volunteers play a vital role in building a fantastic summer for a camper with special needs! For more information or to apply, please contact Melissa Bunce at 545-8658 or Voices Together Peer Camper: Grades: 8 - 12 Voices Together is a safe and structured day camp for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Teen volunteers play an enormous role in making this the premier program for children with Autism. As a Peer Camper in Voices Together, you will enjoy being a part of a full camp program, but yo uwill also have an amazing experience working with a remarkable staff and group of campers. For more information about being a Peer Camper for Voices Together, please contact Melissa Bunce, Director of Inclusion and Support Services, at 545-8658 or Leadership Travel Institute (LTI): Grades: 8 & 9 LTI is two weeks of travel, service, adventue, learning, fun, and growth that develops the leadership skills and abilities of our oldest campers. Service, adventure, and personal growth are the focus while campers make a difference with community service projects, enjoy a day at Busch Gardens, challenge themselves on a high ropes course, go whitewater rafting, and participate in a variety of leadership based workshops and activities. We'll also explore the peaks, pools, glades, and waterfalls of Shenandoah National Park on a three night camping trip. Ganim Volunteer Corps (GVC): Grades: 7 - 12 GVC is designed to help participants meet their schools' community service requirements while still having an exciting, fun and meaningful time at camp. Each participant will be placed in a Camp Ganim group to assist the counselors and will have the opportunity to learn valuable skills working with young campers.

Why We Host Schlichim

"Hosting Shlichim during the summers remains a wonderful experience for our family. Each year we meet dynamic and fascinating young Israelis with whom we maintain contact long after the summer has gone. Our kids are the greatest beneficiaries of the experience, finding in the Shlichim individuals who they come to regard as older siblings. It is an event we look forward to every year with good reason and plan on continuing for years to come."

- Soberman Family, The Jack and Pat Kay Centre Camp, Prosserman JCC

Connecting with Israel

“Although it was so new, Israel brought upon me a familiar sense of belonging much like what I feel at Camp Chi every summer. The ability to be in a place where one feels so free and proud to be a Jew is a feeling that makes me so proud to be involved in my Jewish heritage.” - Joshua Krawitz, 17, Camp Chi, JCC Chicago
